The pledge, amended: it binds the apps too
Turtons Creek Studio shipped an app this week, and the pledge was written for games. Rather than let it quietly cover half of what we make, it has been amended — v2, dated, and written up here so the change is on the record instead of in a diff.
Three items were widened. "No purchasable currency" now reads in anything we ship. The price promise now says renewals out loud, because the old wording covered a list price and said nothing about a subscription. And the clock item now admits the obvious — a year's subscription is a clock — and commits to the part that actually matters: nothing you paid for is destroyed when one runs out.
One item was added: we never take a cut of what you earn. One item was scoped rather than stretched — the measured win rate is a claim about games, and generalising it to every number we print would have made it unprovable. One item was left exactly alone, because it already bound everything.
